Upcoming School Facility Bond Election: Informational Guide
Our school district community will vote on an important school facility bond initiative on September 22, 2026. This bond proposal addresses our district’s growing enrollment and structural facility needs.
Please review the factual details below to understand how this proposal impacts our students, facilities, and community taxpayers.
What is on the Ballot?
Voters will decide whether to authorize the district to issue $13.5 million in general bonds.
The Proposed Project: Campus Expansion
The primary focus of this bond is the expansion of the middle school portion of the Ramsay School.
The proposed expansion includes:
– New Classrooms: Adding state-of-the-art learning spaces for the 3rd – 8th grade.
– STEM Labs: Constructing modern science and technology laboratories, Music, Health, Shop and Art.
– Infrastructure Upgrades: Replacing outdated HVAC systems, electrical and improving building security entryways in the existing school building.
Why is this Expansion Needed Now?
– Replacing Temporary Classrooms: The district currently uses two trailers for the middle school, which this expansion will eliminate.
– Safety: By replacing these temporary classrooms, school safety will greatly improve. The new expansion will be connected to the existing building, therefore eliminating the need for students to go outside as they transition between buildings. The current trailers are also very old and in need of being replaced.
Financial and Tax Impact
– Estimated Tax Rate Impact: The Ramsay School District is in a unique situation because of the large volume of businesses located throughout the district boundaries. As a result, approximately 80% of the bond amount will be paid by these businesses. This will greatly reduce the impact to residential taxpayers.
